Proofreading catalogs means that I am always a season ahead, retail-wise. I look at pool toys in February, Christmas stuff in August, and Halloween costumes in June. So we're already discussing potential costumes, and Isabelle is being steered, not-so-subtly, towards Cleopatra, as she is eerily obsessed with Ancient Egypt right now. She's quite fond of mummies (especially the part where they take out the brains), the making of papyrus, and the fact that if the Nile started flooding today, it wouldn't be finished until her birthday. D finds her interest in the mummification of cats to be a little unsettling, but I am so happy not to be playing Barbies that she could probably get away with mummifying our cats, provided she asked on one of those mornings where I step in cat puke before I've made it to the coffeemaker.
As for Ellie, her exploits today included whapping her sister upside the head just for kicks, and biting her so hard that she drew blood (in her defense, I suspect Isabelle was holding the Beloved Blankie hostage, which is still no reason to go all vampire on us). So she'll be sporting this little ensemble come October.
